KIPP Infinity Middle School

As one of the top middle schools* in all of New York City, KIPP Infinity succeeds by doing more than just delivering a rigorous academic program. We actively promote a joyful school culture through a comprehensive music program, co-curricular activities, and life-changing field trips. This mix enables our students to develop new skills and interests and to build character strengths that benefit them inside and outside the classroom. We often say: “If our kids aren’t smiling… then we’re doing something wrong.”

Curriculum

We provide students a rigorous college-preparatory program based on Common Core standards and best practices shared with all KIPP schools. Notably, KIPP Infinity launched an innovative approach to non-fiction studies that many KIPP and public schools have adopted to improve student achievement in science and social studies. We also host a Non-Fiction Spring Exhibition, a competition for all students to research, write, and present on a topic of their choice.

Community & Collaboration

Our day starts with a Morning Assembly, where all staff and students gather to say our school affirmation, celebrate accomplishments, share news, set goals, and show our support for one other. Our “Team and Family” spirit carries over as teachers across grade levels and subjects actively collaborate with their peers and instructional coaches to maximize student and professional growth. And for families, our classroom doors are always open, and our cell phones are always on.

Co-Curricular Activities

All students learn to read and write music beginning in 6th grade and our 7th and 8th grade KIPP Infinity Bands perform regularly at events around New York City. In addition, we offer students dance, journalism, and chorus, along with athletics such as flag football, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, and other sports. Students regularly showcase their performing talents in school-wide productions like the Latino Cultural Show, the Black History Month Show, and the Find Your Voice Choir Concert.

* According to the 2011-2012 New York City Progress Reports, among Middle Schools, KIPP Infinity Middle School was ranked #3 in Manhattan and #14 overall in New York City.
