At KIPP AMP Elementary, we work together to prepare students academically, socially, and emotionally, to strive for the future of their dreams. Our school values — Scholarship, Tenacity, Respect, Inquiry, Voice, and Enthusiasm (S.T.R.I.V.E.) — guide our vision to empower students to cultivate their curiosity of the world, show scholarship every day, and use their voices for change. Our safe, supportive, and joyful environment will help engage our students on the road to and through college. AMP Elementary students will learn to use their voices in compelling and powerful ways to advocate for justice in their community and the world. When students leave our school, they will have a love of learning and the skills and habits needed to successfully strive for their dreams.
We are committed to meeting students where they are and have designed a curriculum that ensures students acquire the skills they need to succeed in engaging ways (and lots of hand-on experiences!) Our school day includes nap time and ample time for play and movement. In addition to employing a co-teaching model in our kindergarten and first grade classrooms, KIPP AMP fosters co-planning across the whole school.
As our teaching staff models and fosters our S.T.R.I.V.E. values in all our lessons and activities, our students will also learn to give their all, never give up, help others, explore new things, speak up, and smile and laugh along the way.
Students will participate in a variety of local cultural and educational adventures. Through their exploration the sights, sounds, and tastes of Brooklyn, they’ll develop curiosity and a connection to their community as they develop their own voices and identities.
