Your Growth, Supported

Four Pillars of Professional Development

Our educators’ growth is guided by four core commitments: strong coaching relationships, data-driven instruction, intentional learning communities, and the collective strength of our national KIPP network. Together, these pillars ensure that every team member is supported, challenged, and inspired to deliver life-changing learning for students.

Growth Through Weekly Coaching

The foundation of our growth is the teacher-coach relationship. Every week, you’ll meet one-on-one with an instructional coach to reflect on lessons, analyze student data, strengthen classroom culture, and explore professional curiosities. Our dedicated Teaching Learning Support (TLS) team ensures you have the resources to drive student achievement.

Using Data to Drive Instruction

We believe data tells a story of student growth, success, and opportunity. It drives our instruction to meet individual needs better. To make this work meaningful, dedicated Data Days throughout the year give teachers time to analyze results, share insights, and collaboratively refine their methods.

A Culture of Continuous Learning

We kick off each year with a full week of Professional Development to dive into curriculum, share best practices, and immerse new staff in the vibrant KIPP culture. Throughout the year, teachers gather monthly for regional professional development PD focused on targeted training, deliberate practice, and collaborative conversation.

Strength in Our National Network

As part of a national network of 279 schools, we leverage the experience of thousands of colleagues and benefit from the research and support of the KIPP Foundation. Our teachers also have access to KIPP Share, an online platform where network staff share lessons, resources, and tools to make planning and teaching more efficient.

Your Leadership Pathway

From Professional Growth to Leadership Pathways

At KIPP NYC, professional development doesn’t stop at great teaching—it grows into great leadership. The same pillars that ground your development as an educator also power how we develop school leaders. For those ready to expand their impact beyond the classroom, KIPP NYC offers a clear pathway of leadership programs. These programs equip educators to lead teams, shape school-wide systems, and grow into future school leaders and principals. Each pathway includes targeted coaching, hands-on leadership experience, and a supportive cohort, ensuring leaders are prepared, confident, and ready to make an immediate impact.

Fully Funded Master’s Degree
What I love most about the AT program at KIPP NYC is the incredible support it provides. Having the opportunity to lead my own classes while working alongside a mentor teacher who truly guides and believes in me has made this experience both empowering and inspiring.

Emerging Leaders

The KIPP NYC Emerging Leaders program is designed for team members with experience leading projects or work that has impacted their school community. The focus of Emerging Leaders is on developing the adaptive and technical skills necessary to lead a team. The Emerging Leaders program operates within a set of KIPP NYC Leadership Development programs, all with the goal of strengthening the leadership pipeline and developing a transparent pathway to leadership. Emerging Leaders are full-time members of their school and will have opportunities to practice the skills and competencies guiding the program.

KIPP NYC’s mission is to develop the person holistically, which is directly aligned with my ethics. As a Harlem native, I was looking for a network that embodied all of the principles that were instilled in me as I was raised and educated in the neighborhood. When I interviewed at KIPP, I knew it would become my teaching home!

Leader Fellows

For leaders with at least two years of team leadership experience. This program develops school-wide leadership through coaching, hands-on experience, and structured development, preparing leaders to manage teams, coach instruction, and lead systems across a school.

KIPP NYC invests deeply in its staff by providing clear, supportive pathways for leadership growth. As a proud participant in the Emerging Leader and now the Leader Fellows Programs, I’ve strengthened my ability to lead through others, coach effectively, and build systems that drive lasting impact. The experience has transformed my journey as a leader who inspires students and staff.

Principal-in-Residence

A two-year residency preparing future principals to lead a KIPP school, through full-time school leadership experience, targeted coaching, and professional development. Year 1 builds foundational leadership; Year 2 advances into strategic decision-making, change management, and running school-wide systems.

I choose to lead at KIPP NYC as a Principal-in-Residence because the core values are not just stated but lived, supported by a daily variety, thoughtful professional development, and a brilliant, passionate network of people who inspire the work every day.
